The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race, outlining plans for temporary traffic diversions that will take effect on Saturday, 22 November 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
According to the statement released on Thursday via the state government’s official X handle, the 10-kilometre race, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission, LSSC, in partnership with the Capital City Race Organisers, will commence at the Ikeja Shopping Mall.
Participants will navigate through Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, the Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones, and Oba Akran Avenue (LASUTH axis), before finishing at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church on Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.
The government noted that several roads, junctions, and intersections along the race corridor will experience partial closures during the event.
These sections will be opened intermittently as runners advance through the route to minimise disruption.
To ensure order and safety, officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be deployed along the designated areas to direct traffic and support event coordination.
Motorists are urged to remain patient and cooperate with traffic officials, as the temporary closures are essential to managing vehicular movement during the Capital City Race and ensuring the safety of participants and road users.
