1. Ekiti State Governor and Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji,non Sunday held a closed-door meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the June 20 election, Wole Oluyede, at his Ikere-Ekiti countryhome. The meeting was attended by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

2. Prof. Dayo Faduyile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Ondo South Senatorial by-election, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s exercise. Faduyile, a former national president of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, was declared the winner in the early hours of Sunday.

3. There are strong indications that the 39 abducted schoolchildren and seven teachers from Ahoro-Esinle, Yawota and Alawusa communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State may regain their freedom any time soon as security operatives intensify rescue efforts. Reports indicate that troops have blocked escape routes from the forest, signaling s close-in to the hideouts.

4. Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of the state. The command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

5. Suspected terrorists have abducted a resident, identified as Yusuf Bazamfare, and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost, a brothel, and one residential building during an attack in Kebbi State. The attack occurred on Saturday night in the Tsamiya community in the Bagudo Local Government Area of the state. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, Bashir Usman.

6. Edo State Security Corps has arrested 14 suspects in connection with a cult-related killing in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. It was gathered that last week, tension heightened at Abiodun Motor Park, Jattu Junction, as residents, commuters, and business owners ran for their lives after suspected cultists shot and killed a middle-aged man.

7. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two elderly men, aged 84 and 75, for allegedly supplying and selling illicit drugs to teenage secondary school students in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The suspects, identified as 84-year-old Godfrey Orji and 75-year-old Godwin Obulunbiya Obiora, were arrested in separate operations by operatives of the agency.

8. The senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for the Nasarawa North by-election, Labaran Maku, has rejected the results declared and called for the cancellation of the election over alleged widespread irregularities. Maku, a former Minister of Information, made the call on Sunday during a press briefing in his country home, Wakama, in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

9. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, governorship candidate, Mr Dare Bejide, has rejected the Ekiti State election result. Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Bejide described the election as lacking credibility. He alleged tnat the exercise was conducted in “an atmosphere replica of a war zone”.

10. Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested three women suspected of collaborating with terrorists in an Internally Displaced Persons, IDP camp in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. Operational report made available to NAN on Sunday, revealed that the operation was carried out by troops of the 222 Battalion.
