1. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, has questioned the slow pace of reductions in petrol prices across Nigeria despite a sharp decline in global crude oil prices. 2. Katsina State Government said it cannot comment on the reported arrest of suspected bandit leaders at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, after they returned from the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. In an interview on weekend, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, said the matter falls entirely within the jurisdiction of federal security agencies.

3. Residents of Kurawa and neighbouring communities in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State have alleged that suspected bandits planted another improvised explosive device, IED along the Sabon Birni–Kurawa road following fresh attacks on villages in the area. The residents claimed that the explosive was allegedly planted on Sunday to prevent security personnel stationed in Sabon Birni from responding to distress calls during raids.

4. The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, would be defeated in the 2027 general elections if the polls are conducted freely and fairly. Speaking on Channels TV, Dickson said widespread dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration would translate into electoral defeat for the ruling party.

5. The Nigerian Navy has disrupted the movement of illegally refined petroleum products in Rivers State through an intelligence-led operation conducted under Operation DELTA SENTINEL. The Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho said the operation was carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH deployed to the Orashi Forest area of Okolomade Community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers.

6. The National Assembly is set to transmit the Constitution Alteration Bill seeking the establishment of state police to the 36 state Houses of Assembly this week, marking the next critical stage of one of Nigeria’s most far-reaching security reforms. The development comes days after the Senate passed the landmark constitutional amendment, with lawmakers now racing to secure the approval of at least 24 state legislatures before the bill can be transmitted.

7. Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspected criminals for offences ranging from armed robbery and “one-chance” robbery to cultism, unlawful possession of firearms and obtaining money by false pretences. The command also recovered a stolen Toyota Venza, three locally made firearms, a Toyota Camry allegedly used by a one-chance robbery syndicate, 17 stolen mobile phones, an HP EliteBook laptop and N1.1m traced to an alleged travel scam.

8. The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said efforts are underway to strengthen the unity and preparedness of the newly formed party ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a post on verified his X handle on Sunday, Kwankwaso disclosed that he paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, at his residence in Abuja.

9. The All Progressives Congress has distanced itself from a purported list circulating online claiming to contain the names of successful candidates from its recently concluded primary elections. In a public notice issued on Sunday, the party said it had not released any official list of winners from the primaries and warned members and the general public against relying on unauthorised publications.

10. The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The restriction, which takes effect this week, was announced in a statement on Sunday by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Mr Olufemi Dare.
