1. A major outbreak of fire yesterday afternoon disrupted flight operations at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. It forced foreign airlines, including British Airways, Lufthansa and Emirates, to divert their inbound flights to Abuja and airports in neighbouring countries.

2. To step up the battle against insecurity, President Bola Tinubu last night told all state governors that the time for state police has come. According to him, all hands must be on deck to secure the country from bandits, terrorists and other forms of criminality.

3. Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a N1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and three others over the alleged unlawful search of his Abuja residence. Also named as respondents in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/345/2026 and filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, are the Chief Magistrate, Federal Capital Territory Magistrates’ Court, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

4. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Bemgha Koughna, has survived an ambush by suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Group (LTG) near Mayama Hill in Kebbi State. The attack occurred while the GOC’s convoy was en route to visit frontline troops deployed in the state.

5. Youths in Dorowa Babuje, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Monday blocked the Jos–Shendam highway in protest over the killing of nine community members by gunmen. The victims were reportedly attacked on Sunday night at a bar located along the highway. The incident sparked outrage among residents, prompting youths, women and other sympathisers to barricade the road and demand justice.

6. Three persons have been killed in a violent cult clash at the Igbogene suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. The attack, which occured Sunday night, caused panic as gunshots were heard in different parts of the area.

7. The United States Department of Homeland Security, DHS, has intensified its immigration enforcement operations, announcing that 19 more people have been added to the list of Nigerians awaiting deportation from the US. The latest update brings the total number of Nigerian nationals processed for removal to 113 in just the last 21 days.

8. Tragedy struck at the busy Badagry Roundabout in Lagos on Monday as a cement-laden truck rammed into a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officer and two commercial motorcyclists, killing them on the spot. It was learnt that the crash occurred at about 9 am on Monday.

9. The African Democratic Congress candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship election, Dr Moses Paul, on Monday, rejected the outcome of the February 21 poll, alleging widespread irregularities and insisting that the declared results did not reflect the true will of the people. Also on Monday, The Obidient Movement rejected the outcome of Saturday’s AMAC chairmanship election, describing the process as a “brazen assault” on democracy.

10. A ghastly motor accident on Monday evening along the Yola–Mubi Road left four women dead and 26 others injured. The Deputy Chairman of Song Local Government Area, Donan Prambe, said the vehicle was carrying women travelling to the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria in Demsa Local Government Area.
