‎1. Former Governor and Senator, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has been crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State presented the staff of office to him at the coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall.

2. At least five worshippers were shot dead when bandits attacked a mosque during early morning prayers in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack, which happened on Friday morning, sent a shock wave across the community.

3. Reports emerged on Friday that the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has terminated the employment of many of its workers amid the ongoing rift with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.

4. President Bola Tinubu on Friday described the economic hardship which followed some of his reforms as a pain from an economic surgery. He told Nigerians that the nation’s economy is recovering from crisis and thanked them for perseverance. Speaking during the coronation of Olubadan of Ibadan, he said the economy has turned the corner, there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

5. The Nigeria Police Force has intercepted about 103 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit being smuggled out of the country to Cameroon and the Benin Republic. In a statement on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the operation was part of the NPF’s sustained crackdown on economic saboteurs and cross-border criminal gangs across several states.

6. The Executive Secretary of Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency, Bala Ahmad on Friday, confirmed the collapse of mining pits trapping several artisanal miners. The tragic event occurred in the Kadauri community, Maru Local Government Area of the state.

7. The Nigeria Customs Service has announced significant relief measures for manufacturers and critical sectors of the economy, with the exemption of raw materials, spare parts, and certain machinery from the payment of the four per cent Free on Board levy. The development was contained in a communique jointly signed on Friday by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Francis Meshioye.

8. The African Democratic Congress Coalition has said the Obidient movement will be critical in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that many of its members are already embedded in the coalition’s leadership structures. Speaking on Arise TV on Friday, a chieftain of the ADC, Chille Igbawua, said it was misleading to suggest that Peter Obi is detached from the movement or from the coalition’s work.

9. The Police Command in Benue has denied reports that its operatives killed a suspected armed robber, Philip Kpentuman, who died while in custody. The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, said this in a statement on Friday in Makurdi. She said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Emenari Ifeanyi, had ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of Kpentuman’s death.

10. The 44th Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has made a public appeal for the creation of Ibadan State before President Bola Tinubu on Friday. Speaking after his installation and receiving the Staff of Office from Governor Seyi Makinde, the new monarch urged Tinubu to make this a reality before 2027.
