1. A torrential downpour unleashed devastating floods in Zaria, Kaduna State, displacing more than 470 children and destroying over 270 households across several communities. The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and local government officials, confirmed the scale of destruction during a visit to affected areas.
2. Rivers State Government has officially begun transition from emergency rule to democratic governance. The Government on Saturday announced that as part of the transition activities, the state would hold an interdenominational church thanksgiving service on Sunday.
3. Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says Nigeria has not been fortunate with quality leaders for a long time. He said the country has been having leaders he described as lousy for many years. The first-class monarch also said the country would have been bankrupt had the federal government not removed fuel subsidy.
4. The Chief of Staff to the President and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has described President Bola Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidy as an act of “extraordinary statesmanship,” and not that of a politician thinking about the next election. He said this at the 2025 Southern Summit of former legislators held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
5. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has directed members who are yet to register with the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited to immediately register with the refinery ahead of the commencement of direct fuel supply on Monday. IPMAN President, Alh. Abubakar Maigandi in a memo to all zonal chairmen and depot chairmen informed IPMAN members.
6. Healthcare services across the country were disrupted yesterday as 12,000 doctors, under the umbrella of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), began a five-day nationwide warning strike. The striking health personnel are part of the country’s 56,000 registered doctors.
7. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, says over N10 billion was recovered for aggrieved consumers in Nigeria between March and August 2025. Director, Corporate Affairs, FCCPC, revealed this in a statement on Saturday on the updated data on consumer complaints received and resolved across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
8. Businesses and homes suffered setback, on Saturday, as Nigeria recorded another national grid collapse. The total electricity generation dropped to 1.5 megawatts, MW 2,917.83 MW between 11 am and 12 pm.
9. A three-storey building under construction collapsed on Friday night, September 12, 2025, at 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos State, the National Emergency Management Agency has said. In a post on its X handle on Saturday, the National Emergency Management Agency stated that the incident occurred at about 8:30 pm, leaving several people trapped under the rubble.
10. A road accident at New Garage, inward Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, has claimed the life of one person, while nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Route Commander Oluwadamilola Jayeola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos.
