1. The pump price of petrol has gone up for the second time in three weeks, selling at N1,020 at the outlets of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) in Lagos and N1,050 in Abuja.
2. The Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Tuesday, urged petroleum marketers, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, to source petrol directly from his refinery to meet local demand. According to him, fuel queues will disappear when they start patronizing him.
3. Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, on Tuesday, proposed N498bn as the state’s 2025 fiscal year budget. Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, also on Tuesday, presented the N375.79bn 2025 budget to the state House of Assembly for passage.
4. The House of Representatives on Tuesday resolved to investigate the conduct of the lawmaker representing Aba South/Aba North Federal Constituency, Alex Ikwechegh, who was on Monday arrested and questioned for assaulting an Uber driver, Mr Stephen Abuwatseya. The driver was assaulted when he delivered a package to the lawmaker at his Abuja residence.
5. The immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for alleged anti-party activities and outbursts against President Bola Tinubu, former Governor Chief Bisi Akande and others. Aregbesola, a two-term Governor, was at loggerhead with his successor, Adegoyega Oyetola whose re-election he opposed openly.
6. The Senate has postponed the screening of seven ministerial nominees fixed for Tuesday. The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, disclosed this in a terse statement in Abuja around 12 noon. Lado said the shift became necessary to allow all the seven ministerial nominees complete necessary documentations.
7. The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, has arrested no fewer than 27 persons in connection with various criminal activities in the state. According to the corps, the suspects were involved in crimes such as kidnapping, stealing, murder, and burglary among others.
8. Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam has bemoaned non-sharing of classified information and intelligence among law enforcement agencies, saying such development could hinder efforts to reduce crime. He, however, cautioned all the security agencies against the approach, warning that the country could not afford to continue employing such a strategy with the present insecurity affecting many parts of the country.
9. President Bola Tinubu has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund. He performed the ceremony at the Council Chambers of the State House on Tuesday, where he commended the Armed Forces for their role as the first line of defence in protecting the country.
10. The Naira on Tuesday appreciated at the official market, trading at N1,630.45 to the dollar. Data from the official trading platform of the FMDQ showed that this represents a 2.40 per cent gain when compared to the previous trading date on Monday, when it exchanged at N1,670.65 to a dollar.
