Senior civil servants association re-elects Bola-Audu president

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, has re-elected Innocent Bola-Audu for a second term in office as the national president of the association.

The new officers were elected at the ASCSN emergency National Delegates Conference, NDC, at the weekend.

A communiqué signed by Innocent Bola-Audu, president, and Gamaliel Acho, national secretary, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday stated that the NDC-in-session reviewed and endorsed the July 9, 2024, judgement of the National Industrial Court.

The judgement was delivered by Justice O. O. Oyewunmi in suit No. NIC/ABJ/214/2022 between Innocent Bola-Audu vs. Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) & 2 Ors.

The court had affirmed and reinstated Innocent Bola-Audu as the authentic national president of the association.

The NDC-in-session adopted the elections as free and fair and enjoyed the robust participation of delegates drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

In addition, the NDC-in session roundly condemned attempts by some former and present members and staff of the association and their cohorts to fragment, rubbish and destroy the association. It also condemned them for trying to stop the ongoing police investigations into the financial fraud and other crimes they committed against the association.

According to the communiqué, the NDC-in-session applauded the efforts of the Nigeria Police under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police in ensuring thorough investigation and due prosecution of all persons indicted for looting the resources of the association.

Also, the NDC-in-session pledged full support to law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is done.

It further called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene and direct the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory to unseal the Abuja annexe of the ASCSN National Secretariat.

The NDC noted that the sealing of the annexe several weeks ago was a gross violation of the law (especially the Police Act), contemptuous of the judgement of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, and hindering the operations of the association.

It confirmed the appointment of Gamaliel Chinyere Acho, earlier made by the Central Working Committee, CWC, and ratified by the National Executive Council, NEC, as the new Secretary General of the association.

Other officers of the Central Working Committee elected include vice presidents Hassan Abba, Tari Dounana, Andrew Magaji and Odunayo Adesoye; Rahab Maigari as national treasurer; Nkiru Aneke as internal auditor; Jonathan Aligbe as national trustee; and national ex-officials Gold Dybo, Isaac Lingmu, Christopher Lengbedion, Adebayo Oluwa, and Orisamuyiwa Abidakun.
