The Nigeria Police, Osun State Command, has confirmed the kidnap of a couple along the Osogbo-Iragbiji road.
The man and his wife were travelling on a motorcycle along the road on Saturday morning when they were abducted by unknown gunmen.
DAILY POST gathered that the abductors had blocked the road and the couple rammed their motorcycle against the barricade due to the darkness.
Confirming the kidnap, the Spokesperson of the Command, Yemisi Opalola revealed that efforts have commenced to rescue the couple.
Opalola also stated that security personnel have been combing the forest to ensure that they were rescued.
“It was reported and we are working very hard to rescue the couple. Operatives are combing the bush in the area and we want to assure the public that the victims will be rescued and the perpetrators of the crime will not escape justice,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency, Amotekun Osun have successfully rescued Mohammed Jubril.
Recall that Jubril, a herdman, was kidnapped in his Ago-Igbira Fulani settlement home in Ila-Orangun in the early hours of Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
DAILY POST learnt that he was released after a lot of pressure was mounted on the kidnappers by operatives of Amotekun.
The Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi confirmed the release of Muhammad Jubril to journalists in Osogbo.
Adewinmbi added that the kidnapped victim was released without any ransom paid.
According to him, “Our operatives were closing in on them and as a result they released the victim with no ransom paid.
“The victim has rejoined his family but investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the rest members of the kidnap gang.”
