Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender, William Gallas has heaped praise on veteran, Thiago Silva, describing the Brazilian as a perfect footballer.
The 38-year-old Brazil international has been one of the few outstanding players for the Blues this season, even as Graham Potter’s side struggle, with the former AC Milan man standing out from the rest of the bunch by displaying his immense qualities.
Gallas, who played as a defender for France, Chelsea and Arsenal during his playing days, pointed out that the veteran defender’s longevity is a testament to his smartness on the pitch.
The Brazilian was one Chelsea’s best players in their 1-1 draw against West Ham United last weekend and was able to pocket Mikael Anthony throughout the game.
“Thiago Silva is very smart. He can play at this level at his age because he is a very clever defender. Against West Ham, he played against Antonio who is big and strong, but he handled him easily. He wasn’t always competing with him in the physical challenge.
“He is magnificent. He doesn’t rely on his pace because he is so smart, which is why he can keep playing. If you look at his private life, it is perfect,” he told Genting Casino.
